DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL, WE WERE UNABLE TO SEND THIS NEWSLETTER BY EMAIL. As we told you in our last Newsletter, the First Reading of the Vendor Ordinance on August 4, 2014 was postponed to September 2, 2014 so that staff could revise the Ordinance with the changes recommended by the Commission by consensus. Those revisions include:
- Deletion of the use of any City property for any vendor including right-of-ways.
- Permits issued for private commercial property only.
- Vendors Must be 300 feet away from any City or County Park in addition to 500 feet away from any similar business.
There will be no designated locations on South Beach or Downtown.
All we need to do at the postponed first reading and the second reading on September 15th is support the Revised Ordinance. This will effectively remove Mobile Food Vendors from South Beach. The revised Ordinance will be a positive, not only for South Beach but also for the entire City.
